Israel Houghton is an American contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, producer, and worship leader. He is widely credited as Israel and New Breed. ‘New Breed’ is the backing band of Israel Houghton. Many of Israel’s albums are released as a credit to Israel and New Breed. Houghton has won six Grammy Awards and has been nominated for 16 Grammy Awards to date.
Adrienne Eliza Bailon-Houghton is an American television personality, singer, and actress. She is also a former member of Girl Groups 3LW and the Cheetah Girls. Bailon has also been a co-host of the daytime talk show ‘The Real’ and was co-anchor of the entertainment news ‘E! News’. Israel Houghton and Adrienne Bailon met each other while working on the 2013 film ‘I’m in Love with Church Girl’.
In the film, ‘I’m in Love with a Church Girl‘, Adrienne plays a role as the main lead, and Israel looks after the film as a music director. Both were close friends of each other before getting into a romantic relationship.
Houghton was formerly married to Meleasa Houghton. Israel and Meleasa got married in the year 1994. Both had three children together. They got separated in 2015, with the divorce taking place on 22nd February 2016. The couple had been together for 20 years. Israel admitted that he cheated on Melissa; Consequently, they got separated. While being married Houghton also fathered two sons, with mistress DeVawn Moreno. Adrienne has also dated a few well-known names in the past before dating Houghton.
Adrienne and Israel’s relationship started with a friendship!
While talking to some sources, Adrienne said, “When he got officially divorced and started dating again; I immediately started to set him up with my friends… but none of it worked out.” She says, “A while later we were sitting in the corner together at a party and a friend of ours came up and said, ‘You guys have old love’,”
Houghton added, “We both heard that and it had a great impact on us. That was such a special choice of words and I felt it was correct… I felt a connection to her that I still can’t define”.
Bailon adds, “He’s my favorite person ever, so I knew I always wanted him in my life forever…”, “I told him we can give this a shot, but only if we promise we’ll still be friends no matter what”.
After six months of a relationship, Adrienne and Israel decided to get married to each other. They got married in Paris on November 11, 2016; in the presence of their family members and close friends.
Both are ‘So in love…’ with their son; and are cherishing the parenthood
On August 5, 2022, the couple welcomed their first child together. They named their son ‘Ever James’. Ever was born via surrogacy.
While talking about having a child, Adrienne shares how difficult the journey was of having their child. Bailon has been certainly open about her struggles with infertility. In 2018, she shared on The Real that getting pregnant wasn’t as easy as she hoped it would be.
After the long and frustrating journey of having a child of their own, the couple is happily spending joyous moments with their son Ever. Adrienne also got a tattoo on her hand in honor of her baby boy.
Adrienne and Israel both are thoroughly active on social media and both share their happy moments with followers.
Currently, Houghton and Bailon are living together in New York City.
